The things I love about Logan!

So I have come to love my new home town, and I would like to share some reasons why...

1) Big city feel with a small town atmosphere!

2) Awesome bus system and it's free!

3) No real need for a car

4) Perfect weather

5) Not nearly as many rude people

6) Your neighborhood ward is in walking distance

7) Arctic Circle and fry sauce

8) Aggie Ice Cream!

9) Mountains and lakes, just beauty all around

10) The Temple of course

Behold the Simple Things the Lord Provides

The very creation of the earth is a manifestation of God's love for us.

Joey the neighborhood pheasant

Pheasants aren't common birds found in Cincinnati, but man they are all over here in Logan. I admit they are pretty birds, but oh my gosh they are noisy! I remember the first time I heard one I was like, "what was that Vincent?" And then he told me what it was. That was the first of many annoying chirps I would hear. When we moved to our new house we were informed by neighbors that there was a nest of pheasants close by. Some members of the relief society had come by and in the middle of our talk Vincent noticed this pheasant walking down the middle of the road. He was out strutting his stuff, and his walk was rather arrogant. He does this every night around the same time, he heads down the side street, then teasing all the dogs behind the fences. Then he comes back up the street going through the neighbors trash looking for food. Anyway, we have now become used to the our noisy neighbor Joey, and we welcome Joey to come near our front door as he may become dinner some night soon.

"You are never lost when you can see the Temple"

"You are never lost when you can see the Temple", has become one of my favorite quotes from this years conference talks. It was from the talk " Sacred Homes, Sacred Temples" by Elder Gary E. Stevenson, Of the Seventy.

" I remember a warm, sunny afternoon when spring was trying to nudge its way through a long winter in Cache Valley, Utah. My father, whose Saturdays were always filled with chores for his grandsons, stopped by our home with an offer to “go for a ride.” Always happy to ride in Grandpa’s truck, our four- and six-year-old sons scurried into the back jump seat, and I joined my father in the front. Our drive took us through the streets of downtown Logan, which wrap around the Logan Temple, prominently situated on a hill, centered beautifully in the city. As we moved further away from the city, we turned from paved, busy streets to seldom-used dirt roads, where we crossed old bridges and weaved through trees far into the country. We were far from any other traffic and all alone.

Realizing his grandsons were in a place they had not been before, my father stopped the truck. “Do you think we are lost?” he asked the wide-eyed boys as they gazed out the windshield across the valley. Followed by a moment of silent assessment came the profound reply of a young child. “Look,” he said, pointing his finger, “Grandpa, you are never lost when you can see the temple.” Our eyes turned, focusing with his, seeing the sun glistening off the spires of the Logan Temple, far across the valley."

Living in a town that has a temple is truly a blessing. You can go anywhere in Logan and see the Temple on the hill. The Temple is a daily reminder of the goals that I have set. To be sealed to my husband and family, and to do temple work for my family. There are days when I get down and depressed and I miss my family in Ohio and I wonder why I am here, but then I see that beautiful piece of art and I know that the Lord has sent us here. The reasons, I know not. I do know that Vincent and I have been blessed since moving here.

Our battle to sell our van

Since moving to Logan, Vincent has been on this kick of trying to get me to see the van. Granted, we can get everywhere we need to get to in town without a car, what about trips? Well, his answer is...friends or we can rent a car! How dare he even think of getting rid of the car, I don't think I have ever gone without a car before. So I made a deal with Vincent, if we sell the car he buys me a scooter.

So here is the scooter I want, and it already has a name...LANCE! Come on baby, buy me that scooter.

Life in Logan

Well, I thought as my first post here I would share some pictures with you. This is a slideshow that includes pictures from my drive out here, our home, and Logan Canyon. I hope you do enjoy.
