A Day at the Lake

So in our effort to do things that were free, Vincent, Savannah, and I went down to Hyrum beach. It's about a 15-20 min drive away, and it's an awesome place. I love laying on the beach looking up at the surrounding mountains. We took lots of water, water related toys, and flotation devices.

What was I thinking...

So this whole time we have been trying to think of free things to do with Savannah. And of course the first thing that comes to mind is tubing! All over Logan there are these canals that come off the river, and well we are lucky enough be close by one. We had started out our morning telling Savannah that we would go to the lake and then camping, but that fell through. So today I had walked Savannah back from the library and we crossed over a canal. I made mention that kids float down the canal on tubes, and of course she said she wanted to do it.Earlier today the water was cold, near freezing, but that didn't register with the 10 yr old. So as the day went on, and the idea of going swimming at the lake became a distance thought, Savannah pursued the idea of tubing. So we headed on our quest to find some cheap floating devices. With no luck after checking 3 stores, we headed back home. Then Vincent said to go to BIG O tires, because a few weeks back they had the tubes for $10.00. Well when I got there, they were all out. So I drove around to more stores to find floating devices. As I was about to give up hope I stopped at K-Mart...K-Mart didn't let me down, and I came back with 3 rafts! So the time had come to get wet. I remembered how cold the water was earlier and I tried my hardest to not go, but she wouldn't let me. So off we went, yes the water was cold, yes I was complaining the whole time, but it was totally awesome and I can't wait to do it again when the water is warmer.

Tours by Savannah

So this is what happens when you give a 10 yr old a camera and let them do a guided self tour...

Savannah wanted to make a video of our house to show her mom, of course we redid it and made a better video.

Guess who is here..............Savannah!

So it has been quite the battle to get Savannah out here to Logan, but it has finally happened. Even though we wanted her earlier in the summer and for a longer period, we are grateful that she is here now. Of course we didn't fly her into SLC first, instead we sent her down to Vegas to she her pawpaw (Vincent's dad) for a couple of days. Then on Friday, Vincent and I drove down to Vegas to pick her up. We spent the night in Saint George that night, then Saturday morning we headed over to the Temple.

From there we headed on down to Vegas. There was lots of cool stuff to see on the way down, and take pictures of...but of course we didn't :(
When we got into Vegas we couldn't head straight to pawpaws, so we had to drive around. Vincent had to take me down memory lane..
First stop..the place he was going to build a house, I like our place much better.
Second stop...Western High School- this is the place our wild teenager went to school(we spent almost an hour trying to find a way into the school, but alas that failed)
Third stop..Girlfriend lane-Vincent wanted to show me the general area in which his highschool gf's lived.
Fourth stop...Red Rock Canyon - and the route that Vincent biked everyday for training http://www.redrockcanyonlv.org/

From there is was on to see a Savannah, Mick and Vickie. Vincent was so happy to see his little girl...so much that he had to tickle her and play with her in the yard.

From then it was another walk down memory lane with all the things that Vincent did as a child....

That night the entire family went out to eat, then we just hung out, and fell asleep. The next morning we got everything packed and started our way back to Logan, UT. With one small detour on the way, Lake Mead. On our way we stopped and hiked up a small mountain.

And from then on it was a long, long drive home...with a stop for Del Taco for dinner.

In between

Wow, it's been such a long time since I have blogged about anything. Although I guess there isn't much to really blog about, considering that life has just been about work the last couple of weeks.
