Welcome to the world

Sariah Rose Gambill joined our family on June 17th @ 9:15 pm via c-section. The last few weeks of my pregnancy seemed to go by slowly and were stressful. Not only was I trying to get everything ready for the arrival of my daughter, I was also busy raising my son (who is less then a year old). I was also dealing with the fears and anxiety of having a c-section. With my son I went natural, no real pain meds. I was hoping to be able to do the same with Sariah but she had other plans. At the 36 week appointment it was discovered that my beautiful little girl was breech, butt first. We had hoped that maybe she would turn on her own, or with doctor help but that never happened. So Vincent and I sat down with our doctor and discussed the scheduling of the c-section. My doctor suggested doing it on June 16th, however we wanted to wait until my parents were in town, so we scheduled it for June 20th (her due date). I think in the back of my mind I was hoping that she would turn before then so I wouldn't have to be cut open. Well Sariah had different plans in mind. On Thursday the 16th I started having contractions, they varied ranging up to 10 mins apart so I wasn't concerned. I knew the signs to look for, water breaking, contractions 3 mins apart with pains, etc. Well I had no signs of those things so I decided it was nothing. Come Friday it was the same thing, only the contractions ranged anywhere from 3 -10 mins but was averaging 5 mins apart and I had some sharp pains. So decided around 5 pm to give my doctor's office a call, you know just to be on the safe side. They told me to come on in and get monitored, and if it was nothing I would go home but if the contractions continued or I was progressing I would most likely be having my baby that night (the 17th).
Funny thing was once I got there the contractions had basically stopped, go figure. However when they did a check I was already at 3cm, so my doctor decided that 17th was the night.
I was a bit nervous, but overall I was okay. The strangest thing for me was not being able to move my legs at all, they felt like a ton of bricks. And then to hear them talking about what they were doing and knowing that they had cut me open and was messing with my insides. Well, within 15 mins of starting the c-section my little girl was born and now it was time to close me up. Once I got back to the room Sariah took nicely to breast feeding (feeding for over an hour!). I still wasn't able to move my feet / and legs and it was so annoying because I wanted to. I was just glad to have my little girl, healthy and happy.

In the end Sariah weighed 7 lbs 3oz and was 19 1/4 in long.
She is now 3 weeks old and weighs between 7 lbs 8oz and 7 lbs 12 oz and 20oz long. Although I am sad to say that due to some personal reasons I was unable to continue with breast feeding and she is solely on formula, but for her first week of life she did get mommy's milk.
