Kyle Jounni Gambill is here!

So it all started Monday morning around 9:00 am MDT. I went to the bathroom and I noticed a bit more watery discharge, it wasn't what I would consider my normal discharge. I debated if I should call my doctor or not because it was a slow leak, not like a gush of water. Well, I finally decided to call my doctor (well the on-call doctor) and see what they wanted me to do. He told me that it sounded like my water had ruptured, but since I wasn't having any contractions he told me to hold off on coming in till after 3 unless I started having contractions. So I kept busy cleaning the house, and I went for a walk. We also watched the movie "UP" which I recommend to anyone and had a salad.

Finally, I told Vincent that we needed to get up to the hospital so I could be checked. We got to the hospital about 5:30ish and they checked to make sure what I was leaking was the fluid, and yup my water had ruptured and I was being admitted. I got back into my room between 6:00 and 6:30 and they started my iv, pictocin, and antibotics. When I got there and checked I was 2 cm and tight and 90% effaced, but the pictocin started doing it's magic and I was having contractions every 2-3mins around 7pm. Till about 11:30 I was hanging at 3 cm and then all of a sudden I was at 9 cm. At this point it was to late to get the epi cause by the time it would have kicked in he would have been here. So this meant going natural, which I was scared to do. I have to admit that the pain wasn't that bad, although it had it it's moments.

At midnight it was time to push, after about an hour of pushing little Kyle made his enterance into the world, with a little help. We did have some difficulty getting past the pubic bone, and thus needed the forceps to pull him out. That was the most painful experience I have ever had, but it was well worth it once I had my little boy in my arms.

Kyle Jouni Gambill entered the world at 1:08am after 5 hours of active labor and 1 hr of pushing, weighing in at 6lbs1oz and 19in long, and he looks so much like me and my family :).

About 10 mins old
